The original Girder and Panel sets were inspired by the construction of a new office building in Cincinnati, Ohio, the original home of Kenner Toys. Kenner Toys president Mr. Albert Steiner was intrigued by the girder steel beam and girder structures buildings. This then led to the development of girder and panel construction sets. Many adults who had Girder and Panel sets back in the 1960's and 1970's will remember the solaria building and bridge and turnpike sets.
